The BlackBerry revolution has taken the world by storm with all their cool and stylish smart phones, BBM and many other fantastic services. By the looks of things, the storm has just become bigger and even more powerful with BlackBerry’s highly anticipated new tablet PC – ladies and gentlemen, the playbook is here!
The playbook is BlackBerry’s first and eagerly awaited mobile computer that’s got all tech enthusiasts and gadget lovers like myself extremely excited. This week the playbook was launched in Johannesburg. The exclusive event took place at Urban Tree in Sandton with a guest list boasting South Africa’s most recognizable faces. The playbook will contend some serious rivals like Apple’s I-pad but Greg, the regional marketing director for BlackBerry, seemed completely undaunted by this – “we expect to sell at least 50 million units this year alone” he confidently added in his welcome speech.
The playbook is sleek, compact and jam packed with all the powerful features we have come to expect from a high end BlackBerry tablet and at the moment only comes in black. It was designed to make life that much simpler; it comes with all the tools you need to get through a day except for a toaster but then it wouldn’t be practical, would it? There is no limit to what one can achieve with the playbook, it combines work and pleasure so perfectly that sometimes I don’t know whether I am working or playing!
DJ Euphonic, said ''Its really cool because I can mix my music on it on the go'' and a excited Jen Su said, "I can't wait to get my hands on a Playbook, I feel like a child again!''
Expect the playbook to be on shelves within a few weeks but also expect it to leave the shelves faster than free candy at kindergarten, it’s that good so be warned! Am sure the question on everyone’s mind is how much will it cost? Well the BlackBerry representative at the event would not tell me but I believe it will be market related.
Until then I will be enjoying my BlackBerry playbook!
